This course will explore a select number of 21st century works of fictions from around the globe. We will examine these texts in light of recent theoretical perspectives, such as postmodernism, transnationalism, posthumanism, poststructuralism and the post-postcolonial, whilst keeping in mind the various political, cultural, societal and technological developments that have influenced these texts’ creation. Finally, we will identify the thematic and stylistic changes that differentiate these texts from those written before the millennium, and consider how (and to what extent) a distinctive 21st century literature has begun to emerge
